Hello fellow curlies! Here are some questions that I've answered about my regimen, my reason for going natural and more. Check it out!
Q: Which hair products do you enjoy using?
A. Well, I am a transitioner at the moment. I just decided to stop relaxing my hair about a month and a half ago so the products I use as of right now are mainly things that add ton of moisture and "slip" to my hair so that I can easily detangle the two textures. My regimen consists of:
Silicon Mix (Conditioner, Leave-In Conditioner, Gloss/Shine)
Cantu Leave-in Conditioner
Water Mixed with Creme of Nature Conditioner (for styling)
Coconut Oil
I know that Silicon Mix probably isn't the best since the leave in condition contains silicones which I've heard can coat the hair, however it makes my hair feel like silk! It also contains Keratin which makes hair stronger so i guess that counts for something. I can detangle when my hair is wet with no problem with the Silicon mix leave in conditioner on (product review soon to come). I do plan on switching regimens when I do my big chop or when I grow my natural hair out more. I'm just not sure what to use yet.
Q: How long have you been natural?
A: Only a little over a month now! I still have relaxed hair and I plan on doing a long term transition (maybe a year or so). But my natural hair grows so fast I have no idea how long I can hold out from doing my big chop!
Q: What inspired you to wear your hair in its natural state?
A: My mother put a relaxer in my hair at the ripe age of 1 because "it was too hard to manage". With her being a single mother I am not mad at her for doing what she did but I wish that I would have grown up knowing that I don't have "bad hair". My natural hair is growing in beautifully and it's sad to know that my whole life I've been exposed to the fact that "straight is beautiful". I am tired of using chemicals on my hair to make it look like what it's not. White women don't use chemicals on their hair to make it look differently (usually). Why should we? It is not proven that our hair cannot grow long like a white woman or indian woman or any other race's hair for that matter. It's just that black women use so many chemicals in their hair that it breaks faster than it grows so we can't retain any length. I will not torture my hair anymore. No more "no-lye" for me!
